American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department role requiring a South Dakota or compact RN license and a minimum of two years of recent ED experience.

Details

• Work in a hospital Emergency Department with 33 beds, including 8 trauma/resuscitation beds and 4 behavioral health rooms
• Handles a patient census of 150-180 daily from neonates to geriatric, including high acuity trauma and cardiac cases
• Level 2 trauma center and designated stroke center caring for patients with a broad spectrum of emergencies
• RN patient ratio is typically 1:4-5
• Experience with EPIC charting is preferred
• Variable 12-hour shifts with established block times; may work every weekend depending on staffing needs
• No on-call requirements
• Could float to Med/Surg, PCU, or ICU areas as a task nurse only, within scope

Requirements

• Active SD or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Department RN experience, excluding travel assignments, is required
• Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, and PALS certifications are mandatory
• Completion of a board-approved nursing education program is required
• Experience with triage (ESI assessments), evidence collection for sexual assault cases, and critical patient care is necessary
• Must reside more than 100 miles from any affiliated facility to be eligible
• EPIC EMR proficiency preferred

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include care and prioritization for diverse acuity levels, trauma cases, and evidence collection during sexual assault cases in rotation with staff
• Support includes 24/7 charge nurse, ED techs, phlebotomy, respiratory therapy, NP, physician, radiology, pharmacy, and security on the unit
• Orientation includes 8 hours facility and 4 hours ED-specific education, plus at least two 12-hour supervised shifts
• Navy scrubs are required
• Free parking is available
• Holiday coverage may be required as needed
• Time off requests require manager approval; no time off approved in the first 3 weeks of August annually
• First-time travelers are not accepted
• Perm staff must wait one year before returning as travelers
