American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a fast-paced Medical Surgical unit in a Level 1 Trauma setting with floating and holiday requirements.

Details

• Work in a Medical Surgical unit of a short-term acute care hospital
• Patient population includes postoperative urology, GYN, GI, orthopedic cases, and some pre-op patients
• Typical patient ratio is 1:5-6
• Night shifts available (3x12 hours: 19:00–07:30)
• Every other weekend required; may include consecutive weekends based on need
• No on-call requirements
• Floating expected to similar acuity units (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) within the hospital system with support provided
• Charting is completed using Cerner EMR and experience is required

Requirements

• Active IN or Compact RN license in hand at the time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of recent Medical Surgical RN experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; AHA or RQI accepted
• Degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Experience working in a Level 1 Trauma setting required
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Cerner EMR experience required
• Returning staff must be separated from perm/PRN role for at least 12 months before applying

• Responsibilities may include caring for post-op and some pre-op patients across a variety of surgical specialties
• Charge nurse duties may be assigned based on operational needs with training and resources provided
• First-time travelers are welcome
• Must work two out of three major holidays as scheduled

• Must be willing to float or cover at affiliate hospitals as required
