American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a compact or CO RN license and high-risk L&D expertise.

Details

• Work in an acute-care hospital setting on a Labor & Delivery unit with 22 L&D beds, 2 OR suites for C-sections, and 7 triage beds
• Unit utilizes postpartum and mother-baby float support as needed
• Patient population includes labor, cesarean section, pre-eclampsia, and other high-risk antepartum complications
• Care for 8-12 births per day on average
• Works 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and holiday coverage required
• Call required: 18 hours every 6 weeks
• Required to float to postpartum as needed; first to float preference
• Uses Epic for charting and GE Corometrics for electronic fetal monitoring
• Self-scheduling process in place, but travelers are expected to fill coverage gaps
• Hospital-provided scrubs are required

Requirements

• Active CO or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum of 2 years recent high-risk Labor & Delivery RN experience
• Current certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), and NRP
• Competence with titration of oxytocin and magnesium sulfate drips
• Ability to read and interpret fetal monitor strips independently
• Submission must include a copy of driver's license
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from the past 12 months, one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years
• Candidates who have been employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity in the past year are not eligible
• Must live at least 60 miles from the facility, verified by driver's license

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include independent management of high-risk labor and delivery patients and float coverage to postpartum as needed
• Team includes surgical techs, with anesthesia and advanced practice providers in-house 24/7; neonatologist is not in-house around the clock
• Attendance in-state is required for week of orientation, with one unit-specific orientation shift provided
• Required to titrate and manage specific drips including oxytocin and mag sulfate
• Hospital follows AWHONN nurse-patient ratio guidelines when possible
• Travelers must secure housing within necessary float radius to meet scheduling and response requirements
