American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) position requiring an AZ or compact RN license and strong OR and cardiovascular surgical experience.

Details

• Position is in a Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) within an acute care hospital setting
• Unit consists of 6 suites plus a hybrid room, performing 20-30 surgical cases daily
• Case types include total joints, general surgery, spine, urology, and cardiovascular procedures for the open heart team
• RN candidates are not required to scrub but must be skilled in both OR and CVOR roles
• Work schedule is Monday to Friday, 0600-1430 with 8-hour shifts
• Call is required, with CVOR call up to 50% of the time including 5-10 weeknights per 6-week period and 2 weekends per 6 weeks
• Call response time is 30 minutes and call is divided equally among staff
• Travelers may float rarely, and only to assist with non-procedural tasks in other departments
• Uses Cerner charting system; previous Cerner experience preferred
• Hospital-provided scrubs are required

Requirements

• Active AZ or compact RN license, active at the time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 full year in an OR/CVOR setting
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Ability to perform in both general OR and CVOR settings
• Ability to take call after initial 1-2 weeks of orientation
• Must provide professional references: one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference from the last 3 years
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam and tests on sterile technique (Foley catheter and central line dressing) during orientation

Additional Information

• Responsible for assisting a variety of surgical procedures including open heart cases
• Charge nurse, specialty leads, and house supervisor are available for support
• Unit-specific orientation lasts 3-5 shifts depending on case load and exposure
• Travelers share call and holiday coverage equally with staff
• Cannot have been employed directly by CommonSpirit facilities, CHI, or Dignity in the past year
• Must reside a minimum of 50 miles from the facility if based in AZ
• First-time travelers will be considered for the role
