Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU (PICU) night shift position requiring an AK RN license or compact license with proof of pending AK licensure and two years of PICU experience.

Details

• Position is in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of an acute care hospital
• Night shift schedule with 4x12 hour shifts (19:00 - 07:00)
• Patient ratios are typically 1:2 in the PICU and 1:1 for ventilated patients
• No pod structure, with support from CNAs and a medical clerk
• Charge nurse typically does not carry a patient assignment
• May float within scope to NICU and general Pediatrics units as needed
• Block scheduling is available
• Uses Cerner EMR
• Every other weekend is required
• No on-call requirement

Requirements

• Active AK RN license required by start date; compact license accepted at submission with proof of AK license application
• Minimum of 2 years of recent pediatric ICU experience required
• Current BCLS and PALS certifications required
• Must be culturally sensitive to the Native population
• First-time travelers accepted
• Candidates must reside at least 100 miles from facility

• Will occasionally precept or check off nurses training in the PICU
• Support staff includes CNAs and a medical clerk for the unit
• Hospital is a Magnet facility with 152 staffed beds
• Navy scrubs required
