Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) position requiring at least two years of CVOR and trauma level 1 or 2 experience.

Details

• Work in a hospital-based CVOR with 2 operating rooms, 20 pre-op bays, and 14 PACU bays
• Care for patients undergoing cardiac and thoracic surgeries including CABG, TAVR, valve replacements, generator exchanges, thoracic robotic procedures, and open vascular cases
• Typical patient ratio is 1:1 in the OR
• Utilizes Epic charting system, Omnicell, and Alaris equipment
• Potential float to Main OR and Central Sterile Processing as needed
• 12 hour variable shifts, with possible 8 or 10 hour shifts as determined in interview
• On-call required: one overnight per week (7p-7a) and every third weekend, with 15 minute response time
• Sleep room provided in Pre-Op/PACU during on-call overnight shifts
• Weekend rotation is on-call only with potential to work holidays

Requirements

• Active SD or compact RN license required
• Minimum of two years CVOR experience in a level 1 or 2 trauma setting
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Completion of a nursing program approved by a board of nursing
• Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility for consideration
• Permanent staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler

• Responsibilities include managing a wide variety of advanced cardiac and thoracic surgical cases in a high-acuity environment
• Strong CVOR background and ability to work independently across all cardiac and thoracic specialties required
• Team-based care model includes RN/First Assist, surgical techs, nurse clinicians, CRNA, service line leads, HUC, scheduler, and anesthesia support
• Orientation consists of five 8-hour days
• Scrubs are provided and free parking is available
• First-time travelers are welcome
• Approval for time off must be obtained from management
