American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Room RN for night shifts in a busy acute care hospital, requiring an Alaska RN license and strong cultural sensitivity.

Details

• Work in the Emergency Department of an acute care hospital
• Night shifts, 3x12 hours from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4
• Patient population is complex, with significant social history and domestic violence cases
• Every other weekend is required
• No floating to other units
• Electronic charting experience with Cerner is required
• Magnet hospital with 152 staffed beds
• Navy scrubs are required

Requirements

• Active Alaska RN license required prior to start; compact license accepted for initial consideration
• Minimum 2 years of recent ED nursing experience required
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC
• Cultural sensitivity to Alaska Native populations is essential
• Not open to local candidates within a 100-mile radius

• Must provide culturally sensitive and empathetic care to a diverse patient population
• No on-call requirements
• First time travelers are accepted for this position
• Maximum of one week of requested time off is allowed and must be made up at end of contract
• Holiday rotation is required, with expectation to work up to three out of four major holidays
