American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 18 months of recent Med/Tele RN experience and a compact or NC RN license.

Details

• Hospital setting with Med/Surg Tele patient population
• Patients include those with chronic diseases, CHF, COPD, DM, wounds, mental health, addiction services, and geriatric care
• Average unit census of 51 patients with RN-to-patient ratios of 1:4-6, with possible increase to 1:7-8 during surges
• Night shift position from 1900-0700, with every other weekend required
• Must work 75% of holidays per contract
• No on-call requirements
• Floating may occur within designated facilities in Region 1, within RN scope of practice
• EPIC EMR is used in the department
• Equipment includes scales, GBS machine, transfer devices, vein finder, EKG, crash cart, language interpreter, tele-medicine cart, and doppler

Requirements

• Active NC or Compact RN license required
• Minimum of 18 months recent Med/Tele RN experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation and non-titrating cardiac drips such as Cardizem and Amiodarone
• Experience with IV starts, blood products, wound care, and managing patients with tubes and drains
• EPIC EMR experience preferred
• Must reside 50 miles or more from the home unit to be eligible

• Daily responsibilities include monitoring cardiac rhythms, administering IV drips, providing wound care, and supporting patients with complex medical needs
• A strong culture of teamwork and accountability exists within the department
• Support is available from a nurse manager, clinical supervisors, CNAs, clinical mentor, rapid response RN, and house supervisor
• New Employee Orientation (NEO) and two days of departmental orientation provided
• Scrub color is navy blue
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Up to 6 days of time off can be approved (excluding holidays), with additional time to be added to contract if contracted hours are not met
