American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a new Progressive Care Unit with strong cardiac and ICU skills and a valid NC or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in a newly opened high-acuity Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with plans to transition to ICU by end of 2026
• 10-12 bed unit focusing on heavy cardiac and post-surgical patients including CHF, cardiomyopathy, heart transplants, and post-cardiac procedures
• Patient ratios will be 1:3-4 initially, changing to 1:2-3 after ICU transition
• Uses advanced equipment including Swanz, Impella, and Alaris IV pumps
• EPIC EMR charting system in use
• 12-hour day shifts from 0630-1900 with every other weekend rotation required
• Expected to float to other units within scope and rotate with other travelers
• No on-call requirements
• Required to work 50% of holidays during contract

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU or PCU experience required; CVICU experience preferred
• Experience with Swanz, Impella, general ICU skills, wound care, EKG interpretation, defibrillation, cardioversion, and all drips
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Highly preferred to have LVAD and post-cardiac transplant experience, though training is available
• Ability to care for post-cardiac surgery and transplant patients
• Ability to float and work within a high-acuity environment
• First-time travelers will be considered

• Care for critically ill cardiac and post-surgical patients with a focus on advanced cardiac and transplant care
• Support includes 1 CNA, charge nurse (non-assigned patients), phlebotomy, PICC team, 24/7 RT, hospitalist, intensivist, and tele tech support
• Travelers expected to float to multiple units as needed
• Orientation includes NEO plus 2 on-unit shifts
• Royal blue scrubs required

• Self-scheduling model where staff select shifts first, followed by travelers
• Must provide professional reference from supervisor or charge-level RN
