American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric ICU RN with at least two years of high-acuity critical care experience and required certifications for a 26-week contract.

Details

• Position is in a pediatric ICU within a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and teaching hospital
• Unit consists of 24 beds with an average daily census of 21-23 patients
• Patient types include respiratory issues, trauma, DKA, seizures, neurosurgical, renal failure, orthopedic, surgical, transplants, blood disorders, and complex medical conditions
• Patient ratios vary by acuity and may be 2:1, 1:1, or 1:2
• Uses EPIC as the EMR, with experience required
• Equipment used includes Artic Sun, EVDs, Camino, Belmont Rapid Infuser, Alaris and Medfusion pumps, Omnicell, Phillips monitors, and additional critical care technologies
• Schedule is night shift (1845 - 0715) with every other weekend rotation
• Alternates major holiday coverage
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Float as needed to Pediatric CVICU, NICU, Neonatal PCU, and General Pediatrics units within the facility

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and PALS certifications required
• Minimum of 2 years of recent high-acuity pediatric ICU experience required
• Experience with Epic EMR, critical care equipment, and management of invasive lines, ventilators, and vasoactive drip titration
• Ability to float to Pediatric CVICU as needed
• Competency with aseptic/sterile techniques, basic dressing changes, feeding/gastro tubes, chest tubes, sedation and analgesic drips, CRRT, and bedside procedures

Additional Information

• Main responsibilities include providing critical care to a wide range of high-acuity pediatric patients
• Support team includes a charge nurse, health care technician, unit secretary, intensivist, residents, APPs, phlebotomy, IV/VAT, RT, and resource nurse available 24/7
• Centralized and bedside monitoring is utilized throughout the unit
• Departmental orientation and facility onboarding provided, including two days in the department
• Scrub color is navy
• Free parking is available on site
• First-time travelers will be considered for this position
