American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-acuity Pediatric ICU position requiring a compact or NC license, BLS and PALS certification, and a strong background in pediatric critical care.

Details

• Work in a pediatric ICU within a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center at a teaching hospital
• Unit has 24 beds with an average daily census of 21-23 patients
• Handles complex patient cases including respiratory, trauma (penetrating and non-accidental), DKA, seizures, neurosurgical, renal failure, orthopedic, surgical, transplants, and blood disorders
• RN-to-patient ratios vary based on acuity: 1:1, 2:1, or 1:2
• Required to float as needed to Pediatric CVICU, NICU, Neonatal PCU, or General Peds
• Uses Epic EMR and advanced patient care equipment including Artic Sun, Camino, Belmont Rapid Infuser, and Alaris & Medfusion pumps
• Works 12-hour night shifts (1845-0715) with every other weekend and alternating major holiday requirements
• No on-call requirements for travelers

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and PALS certifications required
• At least 2 years of recent high-acuity pediatric ICU experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficient with advanced critical care procedures and equipment, including invasive lines, vasoactive drips, ventilator and trach management, and CRRT
• Ability to float to Pediatric CVICU and other pediatric units as needed

• Responsibilities include complex critical care management and participation in bedside procedures with providers
• Support staff includes a health care tech, unit secretary, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, resource nurse, respiratory therapist, intensivists, residents, and APP support 24/7
• Orientation includes NEO and 2 days of departmental training
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Navy scrubs are required
