Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Tele PCU RN for a Level II trauma acute care setting, requiring current BLS and ACLS certifications and proficiency in reading cardiac strips.

Details

• Work in an acute care hospital on a 32-bed Med/Tele/PCU stepdown unit
• Adult and geriatric patient population with cardiac, medical, and some general surgical cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:4-5 on nights, occasionally 5-6, with PCU overflow at 1:3
• Frequent cardiac procedures including cardiac caths, EP studies, and pacer care
• Required to titrate drips including Amio, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitro, Nipride, Lasix, and low dose Dopamine
• Utilizes Epic EMR system
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts, required to work every other weekend and holiday
• First to float to PCU, med/surg, and ER holds/boarding as needed
• Bipap, trach, and Airvo respiratory equipment in use on unit
• Any color scrubs may be worn

Requirements

• Active ND or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience, including PCU and telemetry
• Must have experience in reading and interpreting cardiac strips
• Previous experience with Epic EMR preferred
• Candidate must not have been employed full time, part time, or PRN by any facility associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year
• Two professional references, including one supervisor reference from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference from the past 3 years
• Driver’s license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsible for caring for adult and geriatric patients with acute cardiac and medical conditions
• Charge nurse on both shifts may take a light patient load
• Support staff includes nurse aides and/or patient care techs with a goal ratio of 1:10
• Portable and in-room telemetry monitors present, with monitor techs at nurses' station
• RNs are expected to interpreting their own telemetry strips
• Orientation includes two 12-hour department-specific shifts
• First time travelers are welcome to apply
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• RTO (Requested Time Off) of up to 7 days must be submitted upfront for a 13 week contract; additional RTO will not be approved
