American Traveler is seeking a skilled RN for an Intermediate Care Unit (Telemetry) position requiring a compact or VA RN license, BLS, and ACLS certifications.

Details

• Position is in an Intermediate Care (stepdown/telemetry) unit within a hospital setting
• Unit has 29 beds with the potential to expand to 37 beds, including some semi-private rooms
• Patient ratios typically range from 1:3 to 1:5
• Patient population includes CKD, DM, CHF, UTI, GI bleeds, respiratory failure, COPD, pneumonia, and sepsis
• Uses telemetry monitors, wound vacs, warming blankets, IV pumps, and PCA pumps
• Will float to other medical-surgical and telemetry units as needed
• Requires working 12-hour night shifts, every other weekend, and assigned holidays
• Electronic documentation systems include Epic, PerfectServe, and Dimensions
• Pass/fail EKG (dysrhythmia) exam required on the first day, with two attempts allowed

Requirements

• Active, unencumbered RN license from VA or a compact state
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Minimum of 2 years recent intermediate care or telemetry RN experience
• Strong critical thinking, communication, and time management skills
• Proficiency in electronic documentation and experience with oxygen therapy, medication administration, wound care/dressing changes, vital signs, IV insertion, and NG tube management required
• Experience in advanced cardiac rhythm interpretation and managing cardiac drips preferred
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility for eligibility

Additional Information

• Main responsibilities include initial and ongoing patient assessment, care planning, treatment implementation, and evaluation
• Expected to manage patients with multisystem organ failure or multisystem trauma
• Works collaboratively with PCTs, HUCs, and interdisciplinary team members
• Must be able to anticipate and respond proactively to rapidly changing patient conditions
• Holiday coverage is required per hospital policy
• Dress code and scrub requirements will be provided during onboarding
• Must pass an on-site EKG test on the first day of assignment
