American Traveler is seeking a PCU RN for a night shift, cardio-pulmonary unit position requiring BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certification, and VA or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Position is in a 27-bed Cardio-Pulmonary Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Patient ratio typically 1:3-4, subject to staffing conditions
• Care for patients with heart block, chronic cardiac conditions, and chest tubes
• Specialized procedures include cardiac drips (no vasopressor drips); use of Alaris pumps, Hoyer lift, BiPAP, Sara Stedy, PCA, GlucoStabilizer, and bedside cardiac monitors
• Epic EMR used; experience preferred
• 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and major holiday required
• May float to other units to care for stepdown patients
• No travel pairs or teams accepted

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Must pass EKG exam at orientation (two attempts allowed)
• Minimum one year of RN experience required
• Completion of orientation EKG testing required for consideration
• No local travelers accepted within a 50-mile radius

Additional Information

• Scrubs must be navy blue, white, or a combination of both colors
• Main responsibilities include advanced cardiac patient care, medication titration, and interdisciplinary care coordination
• Coverage of every other weekend and major holidays is required
• Team members use the AACN Synergy Model for patient-centered care
• Testing and training materials, including a study guide for the EKG exam, are provided at orientation
