Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced LPN for a Med/Surg Tele overflow unit, requiring BLS certification and at least 1 year of relevant experience.

Details

• Work in a 14-bed Medical Surgical Telemetry overflow unit accommodating ED boarder patients
• Unit functions as flex space within the GI Endoscopy department, with patient numbers fluctuating based on demand
• Patient population includes ED boarders and med/surg tele cases
• Scheduled for 12-hour day shifts (7:00–19:00), with every other weekend coverage required
• Float required to care for medical-surgical patients as needed
• Block scheduling may be accommodated but is not guaranteed
• Call may be required depending on staffing needs
• Uses Epic EMR; Epic experience preferred

Requirements

• Current LPN license required if applicable
• Minimum 1 year of recent relevant experience
• Current BLS certification required
• Proficiency with MS/Tele skills including blood glucose monitoring, feeding tube management, Foley catheter insertion, ear/eye drops, IM & SQ medication administration, NG/G tube care, oral/subcutaneous administration, oxygen delivery, bathing, mouth care, and vital sign monitoring
• Experience in emergency department and communication using SBAR for ED patients
• Epic experience required
• Previous charge experience preferred

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include communication of patient status changes, admission of patients, and following isolation precautions
• Must be comfortable floating to similar units based on operational needs
• Minimal RTO is preferred; all scheduling requests must be included with initial application
• First-time travelers are accepted for this unit
• Navy blue and white scrubs are required
• A 75-mile radius rule applies for candidate eligibility
