Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit with experience in telemetry and Epic charting required for night shifts.

Details

• Work in a locked Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within a corrections health setting
• Care for oncology and medical-surgical patients, including those with active cancer diagnoses and general medical conditions
• Float to various oncology medical-surgical units as needed
• Night shifts (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30) with potential weekend shifts based on unit needs
• Nurse to patient ratio is 1:3 in PCU and 1:4-5 in medical-surgical units
• Epic documentation system experience required
• Medication administration via Pyxis is utilized

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required
• Medical-surgical or telemetry experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias
• IV and phlebotomy skills, central and peripheral line care, and management of cardiac drips (no titration)
• Experience with respiratory therapy equipment such as CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, and tracheostomy management

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include telemetry monitoring, medication administration, feeding tube and tracheostomy care, and pre/post-hemodialysis management
• Work is performed in a secure unit with access controlled by corrections officers
• Provide care to both oncology and non-oncology patients
• Support from interdisciplinary teams including pharmacy, respiratory therapy, and rapid response teams
• Oncology experience is preferred but not required
