American Traveler is hiring an LPN for a Medical Surgical unit with acute care experience and an active NY license for day shifts at a leading facility.

Details

• Work on a Medical Surgical unit with day shifts (4x12 hours, 7:00–19:00)
• Serve adult medical patients with conditions such as COPD exacerbation, infections, and failure to thrive
• Patient ratios on day shift are typically 1:5-6
• Use Epic EMR; previous Epic experience required
• Required to float to other units within LPN skillset
• Every other weekend and every other holiday coverage required
• Locals accepted for LPN roles

Requirements

• Active New York State LPN license required (license must be active at start)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum of 1 year of recent acute care experience within the last 2 years
• Ability to take independent patient assignments with RN support
• Experience with vital signs, pain assessment, intake/output, isolation precautions, physical restraints, and specimen labeling
• Proficient in oxygen administration, feeding tube management, telemetry monitoring, and 12-lead EKG
• Skilled in medication administration (oral, IM, SQ, NG/G-tube, ear and eye drops), IV therapy with pumps, and blood glucose monitoring
• Basic wound care including simple dressings, JP/Hemovac drains, as well as bathing and mouth care
• Competent with Foley catheter insertion (male/female) and clean catch urine collection
• Experience communicating status changes to RN or physician
• Epic charting experience required

Additional Information

• Main duties include medication administration, telemetry monitoring, basic wound care, and feeding tube management
• Work alongside an RN with support as needed
• Required to float to areas within your scope of practice as needed
• Scrub color is any combination of navy blue and white
• Must submit all time off or special scheduling requests with initial application
• First-time travelers will be considered
• Must be prepared to work every other weekend and holiday if scheduled
• License required if applicable
