American Traveler is seeking a skilled RN for an ICU position with critical care experience and flexible coverage including MedSurg shifts.

Details

• Position is in a rural hospital ICU with a 10-bed unit
• Nurse to patient ratios are 1:2 for critical care, 1:4 for stepdown, and 1:4–5 for MedSurg overflow
• Uses equipment such as Alaris IV pumps, Space Labs cardiac monitors, Mindray vitals, Nicom, Kangaroo pumps, Zo US defibrillators, and Pyxis system
• Charting systems and medication management systems are utilized
• Work schedule consists of 12-hour night shifts with weekend coverage required
• May float to MedSurg, ER, or post-partum units to provide support only, not full patient load
• On-call may be required during low census periods

Requirements

• Active WY or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• At least 2 years of recent critical care experience
• Experience in rural hospital or multiple unit coverage preferred

Additional Information

• Responsible for bedside care of critical and stepdown patients as well as coverage for MedSurg shifts as needed
• Will always work with another RN and not be alone on shift
• Initial orientation includes HR and education requirements on day one, restraint training on day two, and shadowing one shift
• Any color scrubs may be worn
• Holiday and weekend coverage is required as part of the normal schedule
• First shift after orientation is expected following shadowing
• Not eligible if home address is within 50 miles of facility
