American Traveler seeks an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care (Tele/Stepdown) travel position, requiring a VA or compact RN license and strong acute care skills.

Details

• Work in a hospital intermediate care (stepdown/telemetry) unit
• Unit has 29 beds and may expand to 37, including 8 semi-private rooms
• Patient ratios typically range from 1:3 to 1:5
• Typical patient population includes CKD, DM, CHF, UTI, GI bleeds, respiratory failure, COPD, pneumonia, and sepsis
• Day-to-day involves use of telemetry monitors, wound vacs, IV and PCA pumps, warming blankets
• Requires floating to other Med/Surg and Telemetry units as needed
• 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and holiday coverage
• Support staff includes PCTs and unit secretaries
• Electronic documentation system includes Epic, PerfectServe, and Dimensions

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of recent intermediate care, stepdown, or telemetry RN experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Pass/fail dysrhythmia (EKG) exam required on first day with two attempts allowed
• Advanced cardiac rhythm interpretation experience and knowledge of cardiac drips preferred
• Strong critical thinking, communication, and time management skills required
• Experience with electronic documentation, oxygen therapy, medication administration, wound care, vital signs, IV insertion, NG tube management, and recognizing early deterioration required
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (travelers only)

Additional Information

• Travel experience is preferred but not required
• Candidates will receive a dysrhythmia study guide prior to starting
• Team includes patient care techs and health unit coordinators for support
• Holiday and every other weekend shifts are expected
• Scrub and dress code requirements to be provided upon hire
• All candidates must pass EKG testing on day one with up to two attempts
• No local candidates accepted within 50 miles
