American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in a Level 1 trauma teaching hospital with float pool responsibilities and Epic EMR experience required.

Details

• Work in inpatient Med/Surg and Telemetry units at a large teaching hospital
• Level 1 trauma designated facility with chest pain and stroke center
• Patient ratio is typically 1:4-6 for RNs
• Patients include general medical/surgical and telemetry cases
• Required to float to all Med/Surg and Telemetry units as needed
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis for medication dispensing, Phillips monitors, and VS3 vital sign monitors
• 12-hour day shifts, 7AM-7PM, totaling 36 hours per week
• Weekend rotation of 3 weekends in a 6-week schedule
• No on-call or call-back requirements

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required
• ACLS preferred; travelers must pass an EKG competency exam upon onboarding
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience required
• Proficiency in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, and glucometer use required
• Experience with insulin and heparin drips, as well as drips titrated to heart rate
• Familiarity with Epic EMR is required
• Certification in Med/Surg nursing is a plus

• CNAs, unit secretaries, charge nurses, and resource nurses provide multidisciplinary support
• RNs perform blood draws from CVLs; a PICC team is available for PICC placements
• Respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists offer 24/7 in-house support
• Initial onboarding includes one day facility orientation and two days of departmental orientation
• Scrub color for RNs is navy blue
