American Traveler is seeking a Pediatric Emergency Department RN with at least two years of pediatric ER experience and a current NM or compact RN license.

Details

• Position is in a hospital-based Pediatric Emergency Department
• Level I Trauma and teaching hospital environment
• Patient ratios are typically 1:4 for days, nights, and weekends, but may increase during busy periods
• Night shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts per week, typically 16:00 to 4:30
• Travelers are scheduled for weekends as needed, with defined weekend days and nights
• Floating to pediatric admission floors may be required according to staffing needs
• Uses Cerner for electronic charting

Requirements

• Active NM or compact RN license required; pending license considered
• Minimum 2 years of recent pediatric ER experience required
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, ENPC, NIH Stroke Scale
• Must have ENPC certification prior to signing
• Experience in pediatric triage, dosage calculations, phlebotomy, IV starts, 12-lead EKG and cardiac rhythm interpretation required
• COVID-19 vaccination required, with religious and medical exemptions accepted with appropriate documentation
• No local candidates within a 75-mile radius
• Driver’s License (non-local) or alternative transportation plan required

Additional Information

• First-time travelers with strong pediatric ER experience will be considered
• Must care for pediatric patients, including those who may be held for extended periods during high census
• Trauma and resuscitation experience strongly preferred
• Black scrubs required
• Holiday coverage may be scheduled as needed; restricted RTO during certain holiday periods
• RTO of more than 7 days requires approval; no RTO allowed during first 7 or last day of contract
• Drug screen required within 30 days of starting
• No RQI certifications accepted
• Modules must be completed during orientation and annually (up to 4 hours billable)
• Perm employees eligible to return as travelers if out of the system for at least 12 months
