American Traveler is hiring an experienced Behavioral Health RN for an inpatient psychiatric unit, requiring a VA or compact RN license and CPI-Blue certification.

Details

• Position is in an inpatient behavioral health unit with a 36-bed capacity
• Typical patient ratios are 1:6-7 from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. and 1:10 from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.
• Day shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 a.m. – 7:15 p.m.); 4x12-hour shifts available upon request
• Will be required to float to Carilion Mental Health - Roanoke if needed
• Epic charting system experience is required

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license
• Minimum 2 years of inpatient psychiatric RN experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI-Blue) certification required; candidates must have proof in hand or a scheduled class
• Epic EMR experience required
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Two professional references required for consideration
• Must provide copy of Driver's License and Social Security Number

Additional Information

• Mileage is reimbursed at $0.50 per mile when floating
• Completion of orientation modules and Epic training required, with up to 7 hours allocated for inpatient RNs
• Must be willing to work at least one holiday per 13-week assignment; during winter holidays, two holidays are required
• Local candidates within 100 miles of the facility are not accepted; distance is determined by address on Driver's License
• For certain hospitals, candidates living 50-99.9 miles away are eligible for one 13-week assignment with no extension eligibility
• Previous employees must be separated from the facility for at least one year before returning as travelers, with new policies effective July 1, 2025
• Facility does not allow travelers to return after working 365 days, subject to rare exceptions
• 5 hours are provided for general orientation modules and 2 hours for Epic training, which may be completed pre-start or during orientation
