American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring strong cardiac PCU expertise and an active NC or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in a 30-bed cardiac medical Progressive Care Unit in a hospital setting
• Primary focus on cardiac patients, including CHF, ACS, arrhythmias, pre and post cardiac cath, syncope, pacemaker placement, and post-MI; secondary focus on respiratory conditions such as COPD and pneumonia
• Day shifts, 3x12s (7:00a-7:00p) with weekend rotation and holiday coverage as needed
• Patient ratios are 1:4 with drips or BiPAP, otherwise 1:5
• Centralized cardiac monitoring with remote observation of rooms
• Use of Epic EMR is required
• Floating may be required to any other campus as needed

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license in hand
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with recent cardiac PCU experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIH Stroke Scale preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Proficiency in cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, peripheral and PICC line care, cardiac and vasoactive drips (including titration), procedural sedation, and respiratory support equipment
• Must pass an EKG exam during compliance (2 attempts allowed)
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• No open cases on background check
• Education verification must be completed through an approved third party

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive care to a high-acuity cardiac and respiratory patient population
• Team includes 24/7 Nurse Assistants and a unit secretary available between 7a–11p
• Utilize Rapid Response Teams as needed
• Self-assisted scheduling managed via Optilink based on departmental needs and skill mix
• Orientation includes completion of unit-based modules averaging 2-4 hours
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• All RNs must be prepared for a zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
• Requested time off must be declared at time of application; additional RTO after submission is not allowed
