American Traveler seeks an experienced PCU RN with strong cardiac skills, active NC or compact RN license, and EPIC proficiency for a night shift contract.

Details

• Work in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with a primary cardiac focus and a secondary focus on respiratory cases
• Patient population includes congestive heart failure, acute coronary syndrome, arrhythmias, pre/post cardiac catheterization, syncope, pacemaker placement, COPD, pneumonia, and use of BiPAP
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5, with 1:4 ratios for patients requiring drips or BiPAP
• 30-bed unit with private rooms, monitored remotely by the Centralized Cardiac Monitoring Dept
• Night shift, 3x12 hours per week, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Self-scheduling in 6-week periods, distributed based on departmental need and previous assignments
• Weekend rotation and holiday coverage as needed
• Utilizes EPIC EMR; EPIC experience is required
• Floating may be required to any campus within the health system
• Nurse assistants are available 24/7 and an RN secretary is present from 7a-11p

Requirements

• Active NC or compact state RN license in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with recent cardiac PCU experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Proficiency in interpretation/management of dysrhythmias, on-unit telemetry monitoring, pre/post cardiac cath, peripheral and PICC line management, management and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, procedural sedation, chest tube care, external CPAP/BiPAP, and tracheostomy management
• Must pass an EKG exam during compliance, with two attempts allowed
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
• No education accepted from institutions listed on the Diploma Fraud Florida Education Audit list

Additional Information

• RNs will care for patients with complex cardiac and medical needs as well as assist with respiratory care
• Participation in Rapid Response Teams is preferred
• 6-week self-assisted scheduling allows flexibility within departmental needs
• All required orientation modules are unit-based and completed during orientation
• Background check must show no open cases
• Holiday coverage is a requirement for this position
