American Traveler is seeking a CVICU RN with at least 2 years of experience, ACLS/BLS certifications, and an active MD or compact RN license for night shifts.

Details

• Work in a Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) with 8 staffed beds
• Night shift position with 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Required to take 4 on-call shifts within a 6-week schedule
• Floating is required within units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Weekend work required every third weekend
• Average daily census ranges from 1 to 8 patients
• Utilizes Cerner/MedConnect EMR; experience preferred
• Pyxis medication system is used on unit
• Scrub color is navy blue

Requirements

• Active MD or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum of 2 years recent CVICU RN experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
• Ability to manage post cardiac surgery patients (not directly from the OR)
• Experience caring for ventilated patients and managing IV insulin protocols
• Ability to admit and manage fresh hearts, including post-op day 1 cardiac patients
• Experience with pacers (temporary and transvenous) and assisting with chest tube procedures
• Two supervisor references from the past two years required
• Must be comfortable with SBAR and shift note communication
• Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at a lower rate
• Return staff must have at least a 1-year break from previous employment to be eligible

Additional Information

• Primary responsibilities include caring for complex cardiovascular ICU patients, including fresh post-operative cardiac cases
• Assists with procedures such as chest tube insertion/removal and lumbar drain management (preferred)
• Completion of required pre-start modules with transcripts provided; average module time is 12 hours
• First-time travelers with recent CVICU experience are welcome
• No more than 7 days of requested time off are preferred for each 13-week assignment, with no time off allowed in the first two weeks
• Manager interview is not guaranteed and may not occur
• Dress code requires navy blue scrubs
