American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position in an acute care setting, requiring a CA RN license and 2 years of PACU and ICU experience.

Details

• Work in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) in an acute care hospital setting
• Provide care to adult and pediatric patients recovering from general, orthopedic, neuro, vascular, burn, gynecological, and ICU-related surgeries
• Handle ICU overflow patients in the PACU when required, including those on pressors, sedation, and ventilators
• Normal nurse aides support available during business hours
• Utilizes Cerner EMR for documentation
• Shifts are 4x10s, starting at 0700, with rotating weekends and call required
• Travelers are the first to float as needed

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of recent PACU and ICU experience required
• Current ACLS, BLS (AHA), and PALS certifications required
• Experience managing ICU level post-op patients, including pressors, sedation, and ventilator care
• No first time travelers will be considered
• Submission must include a copy of driver’s license
• At least two references: one supervisory from within the last 12 months and another peer or supervisor within the last 3 years

Additional Information

• PACU RNs will recover a mixed surgical population, including handling ICU overflow until beds are available
• Charge Nurse coverage is available, though charge assignments are rare for travelers
• Dark blue scrubs or hospital-supplied scrubs are required
• Mandatory pass/fail testing on sterile technique for catheter insertion and central line dressing changes during orientation
• May not have worked directly for the health system or affiliated facilities in the past year
