American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN Nurse Navigator with a DC license and strong case management skills for a day shift assignment.

Details

• Position based in a hospital setting, primarily functioning as a Nurse Navigator
• Day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (5x8 hours, 40 hours per week)
• Unit uses MedConnect EMR system
• Nurse Navigator role involves pre-op coordination, patient calls, and ensuring surgical readiness
• May be required to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Patient interactions involve medication reconciliation, pain assessment, history review, and vital signs
• Office duties include chart preparation, handling disability forms, telephone triage, and follow-up calls

Requirements

• Active DC RN license required; pending DC license accepted with proof of application, but license must be in hand prior to start
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Minimum of 2 years RN experience required
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
• Experience in cardiology, emergency room, endocrine, family care, general surgery, internal medicine, or oncology preferred
• Must provide two supervisor references
• Completion of required onboarding modules prior to start
• Flu vaccination required

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include ensuring pre-op testing is scheduled and patients are fully prepared for surgery day
• Must be comfortable with interpretation of lab results, dressing changes, and setting up sterile procedure trays (preferred skills)
• Expected to handle follow-up calls and patient outreach as part of the nurse navigator duties
• Team-oriented environment with collaboration between departments
• Return staff must have at least one year gap from previous employment at MedStar facilities
• No more than 7 days of requested time off per 13-week contract is highly preferred and must be requested in advance
• Local candidates within 60 miles are accepted at a different rate
• Parking is available at cost
• Flu vaccination is mandatory for all employees
