American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular OR (CVOR) position requiring at least 3 years of CVOR experience and an active ND or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in an acute care Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) setting
• Trauma Level II hospital environment
• Unit consists of 2 CVOR suites performing 1-3 cases per day across open hearts, CABG, valves, aneurysms, thoracotomies, VATS, and robotic procedures
• Uses Epic EMR system
• Primarily 8-hour day shifts from 6:45 AM to 3:15 PM, Monday through Friday
• Group-managed call schedule with 1-2 weekday on-calls (3:15 PM-6:45 AM) and every 2-3 weekends (Friday 3:15 PM-Monday 6:45 AM)
• Must be willing to cross-train and float to other OR specialties or to the floor as helping hands if CVOR volumes are low
• Holiday and weekend coverage is required

Requirements

• Active ND or compact RN license required at time of application
• Minimum of 3 years dedicated CVOR experience, including open heart, CABG, and valve procedures
• Current BLS certification required
• Must provide two recent professional references: one from a supervisor within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years
• Must submit a copy of a valid driver’s license
• Cannot have been employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity facility in the past year
• Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility
• Must be able to respond to call within 15 minutes

Additional Information

• CVOR RNs work collaboratively to develop and manage the call schedule
• Responsible for a variety of cardiovascular, thoracic, and some vascular surgical cases
• When CVOR case load is low, RNs will be required to cross-train to other OR specialties or provide support on the floor as a sitter or helping hands
• Charge nurse available all shifts; manager on-site until 4 PM weekdays
• 3-4 days of hospital and unit orientation plus additional buddy call shifts based on experience
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• Only 7 days of requested time off (RTO) permitted per 13-week contract
• Housing should be arranged to ensure 15-minute call response; a sleep room is available for post-call reprieve
• Holiday rotation expected as part of team coverage
