American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Telemetry position in a Level 1 trauma acute setting, requiring an AZ or Compact RN license and strong dysrhythmia interpretation skills.

Details

• Work in the Neuro Telemetry unit of an acute care hospital
• 32-bed unit with a patient ratio of 1:4
• Patient population includes trached patients, CVA, TBI, spinal surgery, encephalopathy, ESRD, psych issues, and brain tumors
• Requires proficiency with EKG interpretation and central telemetry monitoring
• Cerner EMR is used and experience is preferred
• 12-hour day shifts from 7 to 7
• Required to work 4 weekend shifts every 4 weeks and 2 out of 4 major holidays
• Floating may be required to cardiac telemetry, telemetry overflow in ICU, and med-surg units
• Level 1 trauma experience is mandatory

Requirements

• Active AZ or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum of 2 years of recent RN experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Ability to interpret dysrhythmias and pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance
• Must complete and pass a sterile technique skills test for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on the first day of orientation
• Must provide a copy of driver’s license
• Must provide recent professional references as specified by the employer
• Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility as determined by driver’s license
• Candidates may not have been employed by the health system within the past year

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include caring for high-acuity neuro and telemetry patients in a fast-paced unit
• SIMs Lab training and pass/fail testing are required for key procedures
• Charge nurses take a light patient assignment and nurse aides support with daily tasks
• Bedside report and high patient turnover with an average length of stay of 4-5 days
• Steel gray scrubs required as dress code
• No ventilator management required; SWAT RN and 24/7 RT and pharmacy support are available
• First day includes unit-specific orientation and skills assessment
• Travelers must have a vehicle and comply with appearance standards (natural hair color, no facial piercings; men must be clean-shaven for fit test)
