American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring an active NY license and prior charge nurse experience.

Details

• Position is based in a tertiary care hospital's complex care Med/Surg Tele unit
• Patient population includes medicine, ortho overflow, and complex long-term care cases
• Patient ratios range from 1:5 to 1:7
• Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts, 19:00-07:00
• Weekend shifts are required every other weekend
• Floating to similar units is required
• Epic is used for charting and proficiency is mandatory

Requirements

• Active NY RN license in hand at time of application
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Tele experience
• Previous charge nurse experience required
• Proficiency in telemetry monitoring, rapid response/code teams, and management of pacemakers, feeding tubes, central lines, and surgical drains
• Experience with Epic EMR required
• Must be able to manage a 1:6 patient ratio in Med/Surg and up to 1:7 as needed
• Applicants must live more than 75 miles from the facility

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include telemetry monitoring, rapid response participation, blood product administration, wound care, IV management, and care of complex medical and orthopedic patients
• Adheres to strict isolation precautions and manages tracheostomies, high flow oxygen, and various lines
• Navy on bottom and navy or white on top scrubs are required
• Pre-employment modules must be completed, with up to 5 hours paid
• First-time travelers are eligible and considered
• Return staff policy requires a minimum of 1 year since previous employment
