Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring at least 18 months of recent PCU experience and ACLS certification.

Details

• Work in a 33-bed PCU with telemetry monitoring in a hospital setting
• Night shift schedule from 1900 to 0700 with every other weekend rotation
• Patient population includes stroke, pneumonia, cellulitis, failure to thrive, altered mental status, chest pain, atrial fibrillation, and COPD
• Typical RN to patient ratio is 1:5 to 1:6
• No trauma designation
• EMR used is Epic, with Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips telemetry monitors
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, Central Division facilities) and within scope of practice
• No on-call or call-back required
• Travelers expected to work 75% of holidays

Requirements

• Active RN license in hand
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of recent PCU experience required
• Skilled in tracheostomy care, cardiac drips, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, blood product administration, wound care, and central line management
• Experience using telemetry equipment required
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the home unit
• First-time travelers are accepted

Additional Information

• Work collaboratively with a close-knit team including CNAs, charge nurses, phlebotomists, resource nurses, respiratory therapists, and hospitalists
• Orientation includes New Employee Orientation and 2 days of departmental training
• Schedule cycles every 6 weeks with up to 6 days of approved time off, not including holidays
• Scrub color requirement is navy blue

• Support resources include 24/7 respiratory therapy and hospitalist coverage, and telemetry monitoring at the nurses' station and central monitoring center
• Must be agreeable to floating within the defined region to be considered
