American Traveler is seeking a RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in a level 1 trauma, academic teaching hospital with oncology patient care experience preferred.

Details

• Work in a 40-bed Med/Surg Tele unit within a hospital setting
• Primary patient population includes hematology/oncology, leukemia, and end-of-life care
• Patient ratios are typically 1:4-5, acuity dependent
• Floating may be required within the cancer center and to any med-surg unit in the hospital
• Night shift from 6:30 pm to 7:00 am, every other weekend required
• Travelers will work 75% of holidays
• Centralized telemetry monitoring system used, RNs must verify strips each shift
• EMR system is Epic, IV pumps are Alaris, medication dispensing via Omnicell, and monitoring with Philips equipment

Requirements

• Active RN license required
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Tele or oncology nursing experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required for resource team
• Port access, blood product administration, PIV starts, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and symptom management skills required
• ONS and OCN certifications preferred
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred

Additional Information

• Duties include administering blood products, electrolyte management, symptom and pain management, and participation in end-of-life care
• Support from CNAs, charge nurses, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, and a centralized telemetry team
• Free onsite parking provided
• Royal blue scrubs are required
• Two-day departmental orientation provided after hospital onboarding
• Up to 7 days of time off may be requested as part of contract extension
• First-time travelers accepted with at least 1 year of recent specialty experience
