American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position featuring night shifts, specialty surgical care, and regional floating within multiple hospitals.

Details

• Position based in a hospital Med/Surg Tele unit with a focus on head/neck and GI surgical patients
• Patient population includes tracheostomies, laryngectomies, hernia repairs, colorectal surgery, and medical overflow
• Typical RN to patient ratio is 1:4-6
• 36 or 48 hour per week options available; 12-hour night shifts starting at 7pm
• Every other weekend required and expected to work 75% of holidays
• No call or call back required
• Requires floating within Region 3, including Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, and Central Division facilities, as needed and within scope of practice
• EMR used is Epic; equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell med dispensing, and Phillips monitors

Requirements

• Active RN license required
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility
• Minimum of 2 years recent Med/Surg Tele RN experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Competency in general Med/Tele skills including: stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, IV starts, chest tube management, and NGT placement
• Proficient in medication drips, including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IV fluids
• Familiarity with Epic EMR system preferred
• First-time travelers will be considered but are not preferred

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include managing complex surgical patients, interpreting cardiac rhythms, managing various tubes/drains, and administering medication drips
• Nurses are responsible for reading telemetry monitors directly, as no monitoring tech is present
• Support available from charge nurse, CNAs, respiratory therapy, IV/VAT team, and 24/7 hospitalist and intensivist teams
• Orientation consists of hospital NEO and two days of department training
• Mid-shift floating is compensated for travel time between facilities
• Navy scrubs are required
• Free parking is provided
• Up to 6 days RTO can be approved, but must be made up if contracted hours are not met
