American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Geriatric Psychiatric unit with rotating shifts and a focus on adult inpatient psych care.

Details

• Position is in a hospital-based Geriatric Psychiatric inpatient unit
• Patient population consists of geriatric adults with diverse psychiatric diagnoses and some acute medical needs
• Clinician to patient ratio is 1 RN to 7 or 8 patients
• Work schedule is 36 hours per week with day, evening, and night shift rotations, including every other weekend
• Floating to similar units is required
• Uses Epic electronic medical record system

Requirements

• Active, unencumbered Massachusetts RN license required at the time of consideration; conditional licenses not accepted
• AHA BLS certification required
• Certification in de-escalation required
• Minimum 2 years of recent inpatient adult psychiatric experience required
• Proficiency in use of Omnicell medication dispensing, Epic EMR, IV pumps, psychotropic medication administration, and diabetic patient care
• Ability to serve as charge nurse and manage admissions/discharges
• FLU and COVID-19 vaccines required with no exceptions

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include caring for patients with anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, and dual diagnoses including substance detox
• Handle some medically acute cases including IV therapies, wound care, and CPAP management
• Requires knowledge of Massachusetts Department of Mental Health regulations, inpatient rights, restraint and seclusion, legal statuses, and guardianship laws
• On-site AVADE and lead EKG training available
• Must comply with hospital dress code and provide two professional references
• Holiday coverage may be required as part of the rotation
• Proof of required vaccinations must be presented before start; no exemptions permitted
• Parking is not validated at Boston locations—public transportation or paid parking is required
• Timekeeping is managed through UKG/Kronos
