American Traveler is seeking an experienced Adult Psychiatric RN for a rotating day/evening position on an inpatient unit, requiring Massachusetts RN licensure and expertise in adult psychiatric care.

Details

• Work on a 30-bed adult inpatient psychiatric unit caring for patients ages 18 to 65
• Treats a diverse range of mental health conditions including dual diagnosis and some medically acute cases
• Nurse to patient ratio is typically 1 RN to 7 or 8 patients
• Proficiency with Omni Cell medication dispensing system and EPIC EMR required
• Schedule includes rotating day/evening/night shifts and every other weekend
• Floating to other units may be required

Requirements

• Active Massachusetts RN license with primary source verification; conditional licenses are not accepted
• Minimum of 2 years of inpatient adult psychiatric experience required
• BLS certification through AHA required
• Certification in de-escalation required
• Proficient in psychotropic medication management, IV pump operation, diabetic care, and completion of admissions/discharges
• Experience with EPIC EMR preferred
• Knowledge of Massachusetts Department of Mental Health regulations and legal requirements regarding restraints, seclusion, guardianship, and medication orders
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccines are required without exemption

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include medication administration, management of psychiatric and detox patients, wound care, and charge nurse duties as needed
• Must be able to assume charge nurse role and complete both admissions and discharges
• AVADE and lead EKG training are offered onsite
• Holiday coverage may be required per unit policy
• No medical or religious exemptions for vaccinations are allowed
• Local candidates must have a permanent residence at least 60 miles from Massachusetts General Hospital
• Parking is not validated; expect daily costs for public transportation or parking
• Timekeeping is managed via UKG/Kronos system
