American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg, Telemetry, and PCU Float Pool position with strong dysrhythmia and titration skills required.

Details

• Work in an acute care hospital setting within the Med/Surg, Telemetry, and PCU float pool
• Float to MedSurg, Tele, and PCU units across multiple campuses, including inpatient holds in the ED
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4 in PCU and 1:5-6 in MedSurg Tele
• Care for geriatric, orthopedic, post-procedural, post-MI, post-cardiac cath, and CABG patients
• Standard shift is 12 hours, days, with every other weekend required and first to float expectation
• Drip titration required for heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone, nitro, dopamine, dobutamine, and insulin
• Telemetry monitoring required; nurses must interpret cardiac strips
• Cerner is the EMR system utilized in all units
• CPAP and BiPAP used in MedSurg for night patients; BiPAP, CPAP, and heated high flow utilized in PCU
• No on-call responsibilities required

Requirements

• Active RN license (state or compact); pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 2 years RN experience, with at least 1 year in a PCU setting
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Ability to interpret EKG strips and titrate multiple cardiovascular drips
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam with 80% or higher within two attempts prior to contract start
• Comfortable working in all assigned float units and with common patient populations indicated
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Candidates may not have been employed (full time, part time, or PRN) with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facilities in the past year

• Provide comprehensive nursing care including monitoring and titrating critical drips and interpreting cardiac strips
• Participate in the holiday rotation with permanent staff
• Notified of daily unit assignment via text message two hours before shift start
• Orientation includes a general session and unit-specific shadow shifts at both campuses
• Wear solid color professional scrubs; navy scrubs required after October
• Utilize nurse aides and work under support of non-assigned charge nurses
• Travelers may be considered first for floating
• First day includes sterile technique testing for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
• Failure of the dysrhythmia or sterile technique tests after two attempts results in a six-month ineligibility for assignments with specified health systems
• Block scheduling may be accommodated for night shift travelers based on unit needs
