American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg, Tele, and PCU Float Pool position requiring ACLS/BLS and strong PCU skills.

Details

• Float between Med/Surg, Telemetry, and PCU units across two hospital campuses in an acute care setting
• Serve a diverse population including geriatric, orthopedic, and post-procedural cardiac patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4 in PCU and 1:5-6 in Med/Surg Telemetry units
• Required to titrate and manage multiple drips such as Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Insulin
• Utilize Cerner EMR for charting
• Shifts are 12 hours, day shifts, with every other weekend required
• Float pool assignments are communicated by text message 2 hours before shift start
• Monitor interpretation skills required; monitor techs support PCU and Med/Surg Telemetry
• CPAP and BiPAP used at night in Med/Surg; BiPAP, CPAP, and heated high flow in PCU
• No on-call or standby required

Requirements

• Active RN license (state or compact); pending licenses not accepted
• BLS and ACLS certifications required prior to consideration
• Minimum of 2 years RN experience with at least 1 year in a PCU setting
• Experience titrating a range of cardiac and critical drips as specified
• Ability to interpret ECG/telemetry strips
• Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
• Must pass Relias dysrhythmia exam with a score of 80% within two attempts before contract confirmation
• Must provide two professional references: one supervisor reference from within the past 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from within the past 3 years
• Copy of driver’s license required for consideration
• Must not have worked at any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in the past year

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive care including cardiac monitoring, post-procedure management, and orthopedics in a float pool capacity
• Support is provided by charge nurses (non-assigned) and nurse aides on all units
• General orientation includes 8 hours plus shifts on core units; orientation at both campuses is provided
• Scrub color requirements are solid color professional scrubs, transitioning to navy in October
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel assignment
• All travelers are included in permanent staff holiday rotation
• Distance between campuses is approximately 20-25 minutes
