American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg, Tele, and PCU Float Pool position requiring strong cardiac care skills and proficiency with Cerner EMR.

Details

• Work in a hospital-based float pool covering Med/Surg, Telemetry, and Progressive Care/Stepdown units across two campuses
• Patient populations include geriatric, orthopedic, post-cardiac cath, post-MI, and post-op cardiac surgery patients
• Nurse to patient ratios are 1:4 in PCU and 1:5-6 in MedSurg Tele
• Care involves titrating drips such as Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Insulin
• Use of CPAP, BiPAP, and Heated High Flow oxygen therapy in appropriate units
• Cerner EMR is used; experience is required
• 12-hour day shifts, every other weekend required, and flexibility to be first to float
• Notification of float assignment is provided two hours before shift via text message
• Holiday coverage included in permanent staff rotation
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active RN license (State or Compact) at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum of 2 years RN experience, with at least 1 year in a PCU setting
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; pending certifications not accepted
• Proficiency in titrating and managing cardiac drips as listed
• Ability to interpret cardiac telemetry strips
• Successful completion of a dysrhythmia exam with a minimum score of 80% within two attempts required prior to contract
• Must provide a copy of driver's license for verification
• Must not have been employed (full time, part time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility within the past year
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility

Additional Information

• Collaborate with a dedicated charge nurse, nurse aids, and monitor techs for patient care support
• Travelers are oriented with an 8-hour hospital orientation and additional 12-hour shifts on MedTele and PCU units
• Travelers included in the permanent staff schedule rotation for holidays
• Dress code requires solid color professional scrubs; navy scrubs required starting in October
• Passing a sterile technique test for Foley catheter and central line care is required during orientation
• Failure to pass testing as required will result in ineligibility for assignments with this health system for 6 months
• Teamwork, flexibility, and comfort working with a variety of patient populations and care levels are essential
