National Nurses Week - Making a Difference
Every year, from the 6th till the 12th of May, we honor and appreciate the tireless dedication of our RNs working
travel nursing jobs during the much-awaited
National Nurses Week. This journey of appreciation and recognition culminates on the birthday of the esteemed Florence Nightingale, a game-changer in the
nursing profession. Her birthday underlines the historical significance and roots of the nursing profession.
The History of National Nurses Week
The trail of National Nurses Week dates back to 1954, marking a century since Florence Nightingale's heroic service during the Crimean War. Fast forward to 1974, the International Council of Nurses further recognized the profession by designating May 12th as International Nurses Day. A year later, President Richard Nixon introduced National Nurses Week,
a week to celebrate and appreciate the role of our national nurses in providing exceptional healthcare.
During National Nurses Week, we not only acknowledge the invaluable contributions of our national nurses but also spread awareness about the nursing profession. This week serves as a platform to highlight the commitment, expertise, and compassionate care provided by nurses in various healthcare settings. National Nurses Week is the perfect opportunity to express gratitude and appreciate the relentless care nurses offer to enhance the health and well-being of individuals and communities.
