Description

American Traveler is seeking a compassionate RN with hospice and pain management experience for a home care position in Illinois with on-call responsibilities.

Details

• Work in a home care hospice setting providing care to patients in their final stages of life
• Serve a patient population with diagnoses such as cancer, end-stage COPD, CHF, CKD, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, ALS, and liver disease
• Expected to conduct approximately 5 patient visits per day
• Monday through Friday day shifts from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm with on-call responsibilities including nights and weekends
• Backup on-call required every 6 weeks on weekends and as needed on weekdays
• Work with equipment including Trilogy ventilators, BiPap, and CPAP
• EPIC EMR used; EPIC experience expected
• Clinical supervisor available 24/7
• Team includes 1 home health aide per 1.5 RNs

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required at time of consideration
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience and at least 1 year of experience in hospice care required
• Experience with hospice pain and symptom management and end-of-life care
• Experience with central lines and common pain medications necessary
• EPIC charting experience required
• Ability to pronounce deaths and provide flexible, compassionate care

• Responsibilities include symptom and pain management, end-of-life care, and the ability to pronounce deaths
• Up to 10 shifts (2 weeks) of unit-specific orientation are provided
• Must supply own clean, hole-free solid color scrubs
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled
• Drug screening required as the facility is a drug-free campus
• No COVID-19 vaccination requirement
• Local candidates are accepted, with local rate applying for those residing within 50 miles
• First-time travelers will be considered
