At American Traveler, our RNs live the adventure implied by the name of our healthcare staffing agency: they enjoy the opportunity to travel the United States from coast to coast, loving the free private housing and other amazing benefits that make each assignment seem like one big vacation. Sean, an ER nurse enjoying his second assignment in Florida, is one such traveler. A consummate beach lover, the Pennsylvania native remarks in his interview, ocean waves crashing in the background, that he knew absolutely no one upon arriving in the Sunshine State. It could have been a chilly first impression, but fortunately the Miami weather wasn’t the only warm aspect to his travel nursing job. Kristin Zandee, Sean’s recruiter, is a ray of sunshine for all the American Travelers she works with. Her relationship with Sean is no exception.  The ER nurse has remarked that Kristin is “a wonderful woman”, always there to answer his questions with the kind of turnaround that makes Kristin, Senior Consultant and three time winner of the Healthcare Recruiter of the Year Award, one in a million.

At American Traveler, our RNs and work closely with their recruiters to find free private housing that meets their every need—no matter how specific. In the case of Kayleigh, an emergency room RN, her checklist of requirements got crossed off one-by-one in a cute Brooklyn apartment with off-site parking; this New York City nursing job was made special not just for Kayleigh, but two of her closest friends. It was high praise when the group, self-described as "picky" and a “traveling circus” due to pets, rated their travel nurse housing "FABULOUS!" Watch the video detailing their experience here: Whatch video about travel nurse housing Thanks, Kayleigh, for your kind words. Kayleigh, an ER nurse, has traveled the U.S. extensively, enjoying the site seeing, new experiences and friendships forged along the way. Her travel nursing career includes assignments in New York and Florida, where she grew more than just her clinical skills—Kayleigh also built a network of friends she’ll always keep in touch with. In her experience working in the ED of a prominent New York hospital, Kayleigh found that the emergency room was more than a place of healing; it was also an ideal setting to meet likeminded people with similar goals. “I would have never met those people if I hadn’t traveled through American Traveler,” Kayleigh remarks in a video captioned with two key concepts in healthcare staffing: adventure and friendship. One of the best pieces of advice an experienced Traveler can give first-timers is to embark on the assignment with a friend. Driving to a new city with company in the passenger seat not only calms first day jitters, but makes things more fun overall—which is why Kayleigh, an ER nurse, worked with her recruiter at American Traveler to place she and two friends exactly where they wanted to be for the Fall season: in New York City travel nurse jobs! These three pals were ecstatic to check off the following items on their New York bucket list: go leaf peeping in Central Park, watch the Macy’s Parade roll by, and stick around long enough to see the holiday lights go up in Times Square. Kayleigh, an ER RN describes her New York City travel nurse experience -watch video here.   Kayleigh’s good luck in landing a high paying ER job with two friends—already members of the American Traveler team—was no small coincidence: it was carefully engineered and made possible by an experienced recruiter; Kayleigh’s friends had enjoyed previous assignments under their recruiter’s guidance and persuaded her to give it a try too. In no time at all, she [+]

Does Your Hospital Promote Healthcare Vacations?  Florida RNs aren’t the only people who divide their time between the hospital and sandy beaches. Now, some of their patients are combining healthcare and site-seeing in an industry that’s gathering strength in the Sunshine State: Medical Tourism! “FLORIDA TRAVEL NURSING JOBS UP CLOSE! For Florida travel nurses who like the idea, good news—and with it more patients—might be coming, thanks to legislation under review by the House and Senate with bipartisan support. If the bill (SB 1150/HB 1223) passes, it will require Florida to increase its promotion of medical tourism, with the aid of $5 million a year for the next four years, including $1.5 million in matching grants; these funds would enable Visit Florida, the state’s official tourism marketing corporation, to offer bundled medical vacation packages from select healthcare providers. Ashly P., an OR Nurse, Sits Down with American Traveler to Talk About Where She Might Be Headed Next… Ashly P., RN (CNOR) knew one thing growing up: she wanted to travel! At first, the goal seemed far away. Ashly wasn’t earning much in her first nursing job, but all that changed when she aligned talents with American Traveler. Since then, the Arkansas native has covered a lot of ground, managing to pay off her student loan debt along the way. travel nursing in Califonia - Ashly RN Travel Nurse“I've worked with one other travel agency and get calls from some others,” Ashly admitted when she sat down with AT to talk, “but I like American Traveler because they've always offered the most money and I trust my recruiter, Karen Stegeman implicitly.” It’s obvious that Ashly, a talented OR nurse, feels like she’s in capable hands—otherwise she wouldn’t go as seamlessly as she does, from one high paying travel nursing job to the next. Her experience in a Northern California hospital, well-known for its robotics program, was as memorable as her private housing in Mountain View, CA. “I loved it.
