American Traveler Confirms Healthcare Jobs Postings Rise as Recession Subsides

BOCA RATON, FL (PRWeb), Tue, 07 Dec 2010 12:30:01 EST -

Global economic think tank, The Conference Board, announced that more than 25,000 healthcare jobs were added to online job boards in October. Staffing analysts say client side demand in the fourth quarter for nursing jobs and allied health positions has increased by almost 50 percent, a signal that the healthcare sector is recovering from the recession and that healthcare employers may be refocusing staffing efforts on the agency model to reduce administrative burdens and constrain payroll costs. Figure 1 and Figure 2 reveal a significant increase in both nursing jobs and allied health jobs demand by healthcare employers as yearend approaches.

Mary Kay Hull, Vice President of Recruitment for American Traveler, a leading travel nurse job agency headquartered in Boca Raton, Florida, said her company has more healthcare employers turning to healthcare staffing agencies to fill open positions as reform mandates put the squeeze on employer operating budgets. This means that as more healthcare jobs come available, establishing a strong relationship with a high-level agency can potentially move qualified candidates to the head of the line, especially at agencies with preferred vendor status at high-volume facilities.

Though going online and viewing nurse job or physical therapist job postings at any number of healthcare staffing websites will avail hundreds of positions nationwide, the customer service, benefits and pay can vary widely among healthcare staffing agencies, Hull said.

"Nurse Retention at our agency is exceptional, not only for above average salaries and perks, say our nurses, but for our superior client support, stability and scope of opportunity when compared to younger agencies," said Hull.

Because major hospital systems and healthcare networks rely on American Traveler for nurses, therapists and traveling healthcare staff, the agency can offer therapists and nurse job candidates a wide range of job choices at teaching hospitals, rehab facilities, skilled nursing centers and physical therapy clinics in all 50 states. Additionally, the agency provides candidates with concierge service, from hiring through career.

According to The Conference Board, online healthcare job listings posted the largest gain of any sector in October, up 26,800 healthcare jobs for the month. The increase was due largely to advertised vacancies for registered nurses and occupational and physical therapist jobs, states the report, with the number of advertised vacancies continuing to outnumber job seekers by over 2 to 1.

Although healthcare jobs availability is good news, job seekers face extreme competition, as some markets are abundant with qualified candidates who may have been recently laid-off, possess years of experience and are immediately hirable. A good reason, Hull said, for candidates to engage a healthcare staffing agency experienced in matching skill sets with job descriptions and one fluent in meeting the needs of hiring managers.
