Job Description:
The Psychiatric Registered Nurse works in a psychiatric unit of a hospital, mental health clinic or long-term psychiatric care setting, with patients suffering mental distress or mental illness. This R.N. specialty must counsel patients and their families, assess mental health needs, as well as administer and monitor treatment regimens that help patients improve their coping abilities. Healthcare employers require at least a BLS or Advanced Life Support certifications to work in Psychiatric travel nurse jobs. The ideal travel nursing candidate will be well-versed in crisis intervention and counseling. The nurse in this capacity will prioritize continuing education and obtain appropriate certifications through the ANCC.
