Job Description:
The Emergency Department Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing the patient's injuries or condition upon arrival to the Emergency Department. Good attention to detail is a must when presenting signs and symptoms, as well as general assessment of the patient to the physician on duty in the ED. The ER RN assists in implementing and explaining treatment plans, prescription information, etc. The ED nurse will administer IVs, medications and injections and be familiar with EKG and other basic hospital triage equipment. This travel nursing job requires familiarity with hospital discharge policy, as well as government policies on treating, transferring and discharging patients from the hospital. ED RNs prepare the patient and family to take over care at home. The ideal ER travel nurse candidate should have a calm temperament, and ability to work long shifts in a stressful and busy environment.
