Job Description:

The Pediatric Emergency Room Nurse will assess children’s injuries or condition upon arrival at the emergency department; this travel nurse position entails advanced knowledge of IVs and how to administer meds and give injections. A Pediatric ER RN is responsible for the implementation of pediatric care plans provided by the ED; the nurse explains treatment plans, prescriptions and ensures that the patient’s parents or caretaker understand dosages and side effects; the RN in this specialty must understand the hospital’s admittance and discharge policies for children, so that care can be taken over at home and/or at school once the patient leaves the hospital. The ER travel nurse will be familiar with basic triage procedures and know BLS and PALS for babies and children.
